Semiotics In Action: Vegas
An interesting thing happened as I was editing this series of photographs. As I added and subtracted figures from the frame, crazy stories began to emerge...
The woman on the phone looked completely innocent in one frame, and in the next she appeared not entirely wholesome.
Vegas can appear as just any other big city, or as it's stereotype – with the addition or subtraction of one or two carefully chosen images.
These scenes never existed. In fact, even the perspective of the background (which allows our eye to focus on everything at the same time) is a hoax. I'm marveling at the stories that begin to appear with just a few clicks of a mouse.
But I'm still wondering – are these compositions edited any more than our own memory?
